As Certfied Prenatal Massage Therapist, Infant Massage Instructor, Massage Doula and Fertility Massage Therapist , I have a world of knowledge that I am happy to share with you and your Birth Partner. Prenatal massage and Prenatal Thai Yoga Massage can be performed all the way through your pregnancy.

Massage techniques vairy depending on your trimester

  • 1st trimester - no special bolsters needed. Gentle relaxation massage only. Areas of the feet, hands, neck, and low-back recieve slow light pressure.
  • 2nd trimester - Prego Pillow with padding for small tummys. Deeper work at the legs and glutes, less deep at low-back.
  • 3rd trimester - Prego Pillow no padding, deep work, breathing techniques, and birthing relaxation tips. Also a good time to bring in your birth partner for some extra coaching lessons.

The benefits of pregnancy massage are profound during any stage, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.

There are some circumstances where massage is not appropriate. please take the time to read through the benefits and contraindications sheet in the prenatal forms below.

Pregnancy Thai Yoga Massage sessions are ideally given on a regular and consistent schedule to ensure maximum benefits. Techniques learned in sessions can be applied during birth to facilitate relaxation, connection with baby and a confidence in your birth experience. Thai yoga is a wonderful massage during pregnancy. A combination of acupressure and very gentle stretching, it rhythmically stimulates and quietens, relaxes and energises within the movements of the body and with the breath. Thai yoga massage is great at relieving the lower back of all those aches and pains associated with the weight of carrying the little one(s) and is very effective at relieving sciatica and leg tension. It's also great at getting into those obscure and difficult to reach areas of the upper thoracic back area and shoulders. At the end of the massage a serene sense of calm and and yet revitalization are shared by both mother and baby.
